Weather data comes from TerraClimate (Abatzoglou, Dobrowski, Parks and Hegewisch, 2018; University of California Merced), published under CC0 (public domain). Wikipedia links, French names, grape berry colour and parentage come from Wikidata (CC0). The world map and the outline of France are drawn from Natural Earth (public domain). The main grapes of each region are general wine knowledge, not from a dataset.

Photographs come from Wikimedia Commons; each is published under the licence shown with it (public domain, CC0, CC BY or CC BY-SA), with its author’s name.

This site describes the weather of each growing season; it does not rate wines or vintages. The figures are checked with care (see the methodology), but they are modelled, monthly data read from one representative 4 km grid cell per region: they do not describe every vineyard and can hide frost, hail and heat spikes. The site sells nothing and names no brands or prices.
